In the middle of nowhere we see a man in a canoe heading towards us, obviously trying to come closer. Heike asks me, if we should stop - of course - we will wait for him.
It is Justin, computer-programmer from South Africa, spending every year 1-3 month in the Jonian Sea with his canoe. He has circumnavigated all islands and has seen every tiny bay. A remarkable man, in very good shape due to his way of cruising. Imagine - dozens of miles on the open sea alone in his tiny boat with all his personal items including food and water for several weeks stored in the boat. And the computer, I-phone and sim - because he is still working on board!
His first question was - "where are you going to? Could you give me a lift"
"Of course we can" - our intended direction was completely different, but it was a pleasure for us to tow him part of his way to the island of Astakos. Solarenergy is for free, so we hat no costs at all for the "deviation".
So we had plenty of time for answering his technical questions about the boat.
When he left, Heike gave him a bottle of "Solarwater" - produced and cooled with solarenergy
Kind regards, from beautiful Meganisi - Heike and Michael
