Corinth-Canal Print E-mail

Like always we started at 06.00 AM to the Canal of Corinth - due to the difficulties that could appear, we were a bit excited. Sometimes there is a strong current and wind in the canal, often there are rough waters because of the ships that were in the canal before us.

A touching experience we made at the Corinth-Canal-Office. Our partner HELMEPA - Hellenic Maritime Environment Protection Association - had already announced our arrival. So the officer there already waited for us, saw the boat and said "bravo, bravo ...  bravo ..... bravo" - looked at our brochure and asked "who built this boat?" I answered "the hull was built in Germany, configuration and installation of the technical parts we made ourselves." He again lookt at hte brochure, shaked his head and then dipped his head thoughtfully and again he said with long pause in between "bravo ....bravo  ... bravo - gratulation."
We made a video of Solarwave crossing the Corinth-Canal - a "must-see!

Helmepa also managed it to motivate the coast guard to send two officers to take fotos of Solarwave crossing the Corinth-Canal.

In the last weeks we again had perfect "solar-weather" - blue sky and little wind, every day we cruise about 50 Sea-Miles with an average speed  of about 4,5 knots - always with full batteries!

Now we are in Trizonia, a small island at the west end of the gulf of Corinth. We did some work on the boat today, changed the position of three VHF and Wifi-antennas, cleanded all the Inox and the panels, and checked and measured all panels and strings - everything works perfectly!

Details about the project, the route, where and when you can join us on the Solarwave-Catamaran to experience the noiseless cruising you can read on our website www.solarwave.at
