shore-power vs. solar-power Print E-mail

In Greece there are only a few marinas with shore-power-connection. Most villages have non.

As you can see on the photos, this is not shore-power, it is solar-power!

Since several weeks we offer our solar-power to our neighbours - of course for free. The advantage for us is, that they do not bother us and all the others with the noise and the exhausts from their motors or generators - which they need just to cool beer and nutter in the fridge.

We now have different couplings to enable several neighbours at the same time to charge their boats from our power-source

It costs nothing for us, instead of having full batteries at 8pm, they will be recharged by the solarpanels until 9am - so what?

Anyway, even if we cruise a long distance during the day, we always reach our destination in the evening with fully charged batteries and a refilled watertank (by our desalinator). No matter how far we went on this day. For free. A great feeling!

Kind regards, Heike und Michael
