sorry for the smoke - and schedule summer 2012 Print E-mail

Only one day after Isaacs visit we again had several visitors -
* first a small motorboat - we gave them Solarwave-folders with the boat-hook - like we always do it - see photo,
* then a Lagoon-Catamaran came alongside to get informations about the project. They could not imagine, that one could produce drinking water with solarpower out of saltwater - so they tested - see photo. When they left, the skipper said - "sorry for the smoke" - because he had to leave the quiet and clean bay by using his diesel-engine ....
In every harbour dozens of interested people gather around Solarwave, asking questions and taking brochures with them.

* George, owner of the largest and best Restaurant in Kalamos and "voluntary harbour-master" in one person - every afternoon he sorts the boats coming into the harbour, telling them, where to park in order to get as many boats in as possible. He has seen us already several times - this afternoon he called me: "Captain! Come, I want to tell you something!" I was afraid of having done something wrong when parking my boat. He said - "I am parking boats here since many years, it was more than 100.000 boats I have parked in these years, but yours is the best boat I have ever seen. Believe me, I tell you this from my heart, the best boat I have ever seen!"

Is it possible to get a nicer compliment? At the photo you see us having dinner in George´s restaurant - romantic, directly at the seaside - very good and incredibly cheap! E.g. Mousaka 6,90, Calamari fried 9,50, beer 2,00 ......

Two days later in Nidri:
* Stelios, Captain of the large Tourist-excursions-boat "Christina", said to me: "I do not know you, but I like you, I like your boat, I like your electric bike, I like your technology!"
* an American Tourist said: "I build Satellites all my life, but I´m retired now, I´m from United States. We used about the same amount of solarpanels for the autonomy of our satellites. I really appreciate what you are doing - good luck!"
* Mr. Kanaris, the director of the large online-yachting-magazine "all4yachting.com" told us, that the trend of the sailing-charter-customers goes towards catamarans and the motoryacht-customers are less interested in speed, but in luxory and comfort, like only a catamaran could offer to them. He is convinced, that Solarwave is a concept that offers exactly what the customer is asking for and that we will build a lot of boats in the following years.
* this weekend a 2-pages article about Solarwave has been published in the weekend supplement of the great national newspaper "kathimerini" - see photo

Prospective for the next year
Last weeks we made many very positive experiences, compliments for the project and the boat, interested people and potential buyers of new solar-yachts. In the middle of the Atlantic or Pazific Ocean this would not have happened. And in wide parts of the tropics and sub-tropics you have cloudy and rainy weather during a long period of time every year. Greece is a land having sun every day, here we can find people from all over the world that come here because of this fact - people that are able to install solarpanels on their house or to buy a boat like this.

So we discussed with our partners and friends about the future time-schedule and we agreed that it is better for the project to stay one more year in Greece (Jonian Sea) to give more people the opportunity to sail with us and to experience the benefits of noiseless and pollution-free cruising and living on board - and to advertise for the project, for our partners and for a clean planet.

Up to now Solarwave "solar-sailed" more than 3.500 nautical miles without fossil fuels - no gas, no diesel!!! (and no sails)

Kind regards, Heike und Michael
